Common questions

Where is the Inspec Chicago office?
The Chicago office is at 8618 West Catalpa Avenue, Suite 1109-1110, Chicago, IL 60656. The direct line is +1-773-444-0206.
What kinds of buildings does the Chicago office work on?
We work for owners and managers of commercial, institutional, multifamily and public buildings — from vintage masonry low-rise stock to high-rise curtain wall towers. The common thread is the enclosure: roofs, exterior walls, windows, waterproofing and the transitions between them, plus site and pavement work through our civil group.
Does Inspec carry out the repairs it recommends?
No. Inspec is a consulting engineering and architecture firm, not a contractor. We investigate the cause, document the condition, design the repair and can observe the work while a contractor of your choosing carries it out. Because we do not bid the construction, our recommendations are not shaped by what we would be paid to build.
We have a leak but no idea where the water is entering. Can you find it?
That is a large part of what the Chicago office does. Sourcing a leak usually means working from the interior evidence outward, ruling out candidate paths, and replicating the conditions that produce the leak through controlled water testing rather than guessing. Selective openings are sometimes needed to confirm what a wall or roof assembly is actually doing.
Which Inspec office should I contact for a building outside Chicago?
Inspec has three offices: Chicago, Milwaukee and Minneapolis, Minnesota. If you are unsure which one should handle your building, contact any of them and we will route the enquiry internally. For portfolios spread across more than one metro, it is usually simplest to start with the office nearest the largest group of buildings.
