Meet Our Talented Team

Meet the Inspec team members — the consulting engineers and architects behind our building enclosure and roofing work in Chicago, Milwaukee and Minneapolis.

The people behind the report

Inspec is a firm of consulting engineers and architects. When a building owner or property manager hires us, what they actually get is people: someone who climbs the ladder and walks the roof, someone who sets up the test apparatus at a window, someone who marks up the drawings, and someone who writes the findings down in language a board or a facility committee can act on. The profiles on this page introduce those people.

Use this page to put a name and a face to the person you have been corresponding with, to see who is assigned to your project, or to find the right person before you call.

What our team members are asked to do

Team members are assigned to work according to the discipline a project calls for. Across the firm, that work includes:

  • Inspecting and assessing roofs and exterior walls — see building enclosure consulting
  • Investigating leaks and premature failures to establish cause
  • Field and laboratory-informed testing of assemblies, windows and wall systems
  • Preparing repair and replacement documents, then observing the work as it is built
  • Advising owners on sequencing, budgeting and long-term capital planning for the enclosure

Individual profiles describe the discipline each person practices in. The service pages elsewhere on this site describe the methods in detail, including commercial roof consulting and waterproofing consulting.

Three offices, one bench of people

Our staff work from offices in Chicago, Illinois; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Team members are based at one office but are assigned to projects based on the expertise a building requires, so the person best suited to a masonry facade question may not be the person nearest the site. Office addresses and contact details are on the locations page.

Consultants, not contractors

No one on this page sells roofing, sealant, cladding or waterproofing materials, and no one here performs the repair work we recommend. That separation is deliberate. It means the person inspecting your building has no financial interest in what the inspection concludes, and the person observing a contractor's work during construction answers only to the owner who hired us.

Reaching a specific team member

If you know who you need, contact their office directly. If you are not sure — a new leak, a facade condition you cannot explain, a capital plan that needs a second opinion — describe the building and the problem through our contact page and we will route it to the right discipline.

Several of our staff also write on technical subjects for the industry; those pieces are collected in our educational resources.

Common questions

Who from Inspec will actually be on my roof or at my building?
A team member assigned according to the discipline your building needs — roofing, exterior walls, waterproofing or enclosure testing. The individual profiles on this page identify each person's area of practice. If you would like to know who is scheduled before a site visit, ask when the visit is arranged and we will tell you.
Can I request a particular team member for my project?
Yes. Owners and property managers who have worked with us before often ask for the same person, particularly on a building that person already knows. Tell us the name when you get in touch. Availability and the technical fit for the specific problem will determine the final assignment.
Do team members only serve the city their office is in?
No. Staff are based in Chicago, Milwaukee or Minneapolis, but assignments are made on the basis of the expertise a building calls for as well as location. A project may be staffed from more than one office when it involves several disciplines, such as roofing and exterior wall cladding together.
Do any Inspec team members perform the repairs they recommend?
No. Inspec inspects, tests, investigates, designs and advises. We do not carry out repair or installation work and we do not sell materials. That independence is the reason our findings and construction observation reports serve the building owner rather than a contractor or manufacturer.
