Common questions
Why aren't specific client and project names listed here?
Many owners prefer that their building conditions, repair budgets and litigation-related investigations stay private. Instead of a public client list, we provide references matched to your building type and scope on request, and we publish technical write-ups that show how the work was actually approached and resolved.
Did Inspec perform the repair work on these projects?
No. Inspec is a consulting engineering and architecture firm. We investigate, test, design, prepare bid documents and observe construction on the owner's behalf. A separate contractor performs all repair and replacement work. That separation keeps our recommendations independent of who ultimately gets the construction contract.
Where does Inspec perform this work?
Projects are staffed from our Chicago, Milwaukee and Minneapolis offices. The office nearest a building usually leads the assignment, with specialists from other offices brought in when a project involves testing, hygrothermal modeling, civil engineering or a combination of disciplines. Contact the office closest to your property to start.
Do previous projects include new construction as well as existing buildings?
Yes. Alongside investigation and repair design on existing buildings, Inspec provides enclosure design, commissioning and construction observation on new work. Published write-ups lean toward existing structures because those problems make for clearer technical writing, but new construction sits within the same disciplines and the same consulting role.
What building types appear in the published projects?
The published accounts cover vintage masonry structures, buildings with storefront and window wall systems, various roof deck types including clay tile, plywood and hybrid assemblies, foundations and below-grade waterproofing, and a historic chapel rehabilitation. Inspec also works on civil scope such as pavements, stormwater and outdoor sports facilities.
